“I’m telling the story more than singing the song.” – Cheri Evans.
Cheri Evans began singing as a high school student with a background in church. Singing in her school choir, she also entered state competitions and performed well. Influenced by her experience in the gospel and singers like Stevie Wonder, Ella Fitzgerald, Chaka Khan, Anita Baker, and Sade, she sought to perform professionally.
Cheri Evans began her professional singing career in St. Louis with the Galaxy Dance Band. She received the opportunity to perform across the United States and sang with many
prominent St. Louis musicians. Throughout her music career, she performed with
many cover bands, and by 2004, she started the CEEJazz Band and would soon
release her first album, Truly Loved, under the vocal jazz genre.
Currently, Evans is performing solo and group acts while also producing her next recording project. She completed her first blues show at the National Blues Museum in 2021 and challenged herself in a genre she had avoided for years. She says, “The running joke with me and my music directors is I have timing issues, and blues is all about timing. I was never very comfortable with it. It was a challenge for me, but it turned out fun.”
Cheri Evans is back at the National Blues Museum to usher in the most beautiful time of the year, on December 16th at 7:00 PM! She is ready to celebrate Christmas through her music! Supported by her band full of some of Saint Louis’s best and
a few special guests, this is sure to be a night to remember. This show will
sell out fast! Get your tickets today.
