The Black Rep and The National Blues Museum are collaborating this summer to bring audiences Denise Thimes: Celebrating the Artistry of Bessie Smith, as part of The Black Rep’s Phoenix Rising Performance Series, sponsored by the Whitaker Foundation, June 10, 2023 at the Museum.

Smith’s successful career took off in 1923, and in recognition of the 100th anniversary of Smith’s first recording, Denise Thimes will be singing the timeless music of “the Empress of the Blues” in the Legends Room at 7pm and 9 pm. Admission is free, seating is limited and tickets are required.
